Extend Product Life with polycrystalline Diamond Coatings

Two completely different examples show how diamond and especially the HF-CVD (Hot Filament Chemical Vapour Deposition) diamond coatings from CONDIAS can be used for a wide range of industries and applications.

Diamond coatings for mechanical seals reduce abrasion

Mechanical Seals

Diamond coatings from CONDIAS on silicon carbide as a carrier material work very successfully in tribological applications such as mechanical seals for pumps, compressors and magnetic couplings, which have to meet extremely high quality requirements. CONDIAS has participated in a publicly funded research project on diamond-coated ceramics. The diamond coating prevents that a lack of lubrication - due to dry running - leads to a considerable increase in temperature. Thus sliding surfaces and seals are not damaged.

Worldwide, this innovative coating technology from Eagle Burgmann Industries is used for oil, water and gas seals that are subject to severe wear conditions, e.g. in large pumping stations or complex power plants.

Boron-doped Diamond Electrodes in Use on the ISS

Diamond coatings from CONDIAS ensure high water quality and its monitoring on the International Space Station ISS. For this purpose, a TOC online analyzer developed and manufactured by O.I. Analytical (USA) is used. NASA makes high demands on a stable and reliable process with low maintenance and easy handling. All these requirements are met by the DIACHEM® electrodes which have been custom-made for this special application and for the specific conditions in space. The system has been successfully used since spring 2009.
